The organisation

Established in 2001, Neuroscience Trials Australia (NTA) was created with the sole aim of building a world-class framework for clinical trials in this country by serving as a platform for the National Neuroscience Facility (NNF).

Operating as a not-for-profit contract research organisation, NTA is governed by a management board made up of specialists who have various disease interests including: dementia, epilepsy, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, mental health, neuropharmacology, neuromuscular diseases, neurosurgery, pain and stroke. In combination with NTA’s staff, they ensure that all clinical studies are in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (including projects under IND/Food and Drug Administration) and exceed their clients’ expectations.

The brief

In February 2022, the CEO of Neuroscience Trials Australia informed us of the intention to redefine NTA’s business model to transition from working within The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health into a newly created commercial entity poised for further global growth and expansion.  Our brief was to help identify an excellent candidate to drive this transformation, identifying and implementing optimal systems and processes based on best practice governance, finance and operations.

NTA were seeking qualified CPA/CA, well-versed in the clinical aspects of health services delivery.

The process

Brooker Consulting conducted a targeted search process, combined with a print and online media campaign. A comprehensive assessment process was undertaken and an appointment has now been confirmed.

The outcome

Five candidates were presented to the shortlisting committee for interview. They interviewed all of them and decided to appoint Ellen Webb in July 2022.
